Trusty Unit Escapee Arrested In Missouri

 A missing prison inmate from the Yankton Trusty Unit has been captured in Missouri.

The Yankton County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 3:48 p.m. on Sunday of a prison inmate who had escaped from the Trusty Unit on the grounds of the Human Services Center.

The escaped prisoner was last seen on the prison grounds at 12:55 p.m. that day. He was verified as having escaped following an inmate count at 3:46 p.m.

The escapee is identified as 37-year-old Ricky Jankord, who was serving a 10-year prison sentence for a Grand Theft charge from Pennington County.

A vehicle belonging to Jankord’s wife was suspected of having been involved in the escape of the inmate. The inmate and the suspect vehicle were put into the National Crime Computer.

At approximately 8 a.m. Monday morning, the suspect vehicle was located in Maryville, Mo.

The Maryville Department of Public Safety conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of this escapee at a motel in Maryville. He is being held as a fugitive from justice for South Dakota in the Nodaway County Jail in Missouri at this time.
