Ohio Death Row Inmate on Suicide Watch After Overdose

COLUMBUS, Ohio —  Officials say an Ohio inmate who intentionally overdosed on pills hours before his scheduled execution has returned to prison and is on suicide watch.

Prisons spokeswoman Julie Walburn says 43-year-old Lawrence Reynolds Jr., who admitted taking an overdose of medication prescribed to him, arrived at the Ohio State Penitentiary in Youngstown shortly after noon on Tuesday.

Deputy confirms San Augustine inmate kills self day after arrest

 SAN AUGUSTINE, TX (KTRE) - A 21-year-old woman hanged herself to death a day after being booked into the San Augustine County jail, a sheriff's office spokesman said Tuesday.

According to Chief Deputy Allen Cunningham, Sonya Sheffield was arrested Feb. 27 on an outstanding warrant in Anderson County on a charge of debit/credit card abuse.

Trusty Unit Escapee Arrested In Missouri

 A missing prison inmate from the Yankton Trusty Unit has been captured in Missouri.

The Yankton County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 3:48 p.m. on Sunday of a prison inmate who had escaped from the Trusty Unit on the grounds of the Human Services Center.

More Charges Expected For Captured Inmate

 The search for an inmate who walked away from Livesay Correctional Institution in Spartanburg on Monday has ended.

The S.C. Department of Corrections said 26-year-old Franklin Harris was confirmed missing from the institution at about 1:30 p.m.

Bomb Squad Called To Polk County Jail

 The bomb squad was called Monday afternoon to the Polk County Jail.

The officials said that at 3:18 p.m., ambulance crews, fire trucks, bomb squad personnel and other officers and deputies were called to the jail after a suspicious brief case was found.

Inmate who escaped hospital in shirt, panties caught

TEMPE - A female inmate escaped police custody at a Tempe hospital before being caught about two hours later.

Police say Yvette Decordes, 20, reportedly slipped out of her handcuffs and her hospital gown and fled while at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Lt. Scott Smith, with the Tempe Police Department, tells 3TV, “At approximately 7:15 p.m. one of our officers called out that he had a prisoner that was fleeing from the Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital in the area of Mill and Apache.

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart says 32-year-old Edward Floyd faces six counts of solicitation to commit murder.

 OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - An officer with the Douglas County Department of Corrections has been named the organization's officer of the year for his efforts to save several children from a burning house.

Corrections officer shot in the chest during home invasion

SUMTER, SC (WIS) - Someone shot a Department of Corrections officer in the chest during a home invasion early Friday morning in Sumter, according to authorities.

Police said someone forced their way inside the home on Love Street around 5:40am Friday.

The homeowner, Robert Johnson, confronted the individual and was shot in the chest. He was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

Sumter Police Chief Patty Patterson Johnson was able to give police information after he was shot, and police have formed leads on the shooting.
